History
Long Bay Theatre, founded in 2007 by Artistic Director Greg London, in the now-defunct Palace Theatre in Myrtle Beach. The company quickly established itself as a vibrant presence in the local arts scene, offering a mix of innovative performances and community-focused productions. However, as the theater landscape evolved, Long Bay Theatre faced challenges, including the closure of the Palace Theatre.
Several years later, in a moment of ingenuity during the COVID-19 pandemic, Greg London revived the company with a socially distanced outdoor production of "Godspell", marking the only live theatre production in the United States at the time. This creative response to the pandemic reignited the theatre’s mission and connected with the community in new and meaningful ways.
Since then, Long Bay Theatre has continued to grow and thrive. The company found a temporary home at the Dream House Theater inside the Myrtle Beach Mall, where it has produced a range of successful performances. Eventually, the theatre opened, Long Bay Theatre 704 Studios, in downtown Myrtle Beach. This new space is equipped with a full costume shop, scene shop, and classroom areas that support its expanding educational programs, including the *Beach to Broadway* series.
With a renewed focus on artistic excellence and community engagement, Long Bay Theatre is continuing to build its legacy, offering both professional performances and valuable learning opportunities for the next generation of theater artists.
